Northern California Day 5 - Yosemite

9:00pm - in the one common room at the hotel with WiFi. No cell service anywhere in the park and WiFi in this one room. And the signal is weak so uploading pictures will be tough. This is legit off the grid!!!!

Had breakfast in SF at the bnb and caught lyft out to Oakland. I had some credit but even without it, it would have been $30 less than the taxi from the airport. Met up with Erica and we set out for Yosemite around 9:45. We had no trouble and hit no traffic but the road called the 120 has a stretch of a few miles that nearly gave us both panic attacks. But we made it!

Got to the park main valley around 1, got some food at the general store and set out to do a quick meadow walk with views of all the big rocks and general pretty things towing over us. It was HOT today, over 90. After the meadow walk we did the lower Yosemite falls walk. The waterfall was still going a little bit. So many idiots climbing on the rocks despite all the warnings of how slippery it is, complete with pictures is broken bones xrays. Very beautiful though.

Wandered back, got some info at the visitors center and set off for our hour, only about 25 miles but it takes an hour. We stopped off a couple times to admire the views. Luckily right next to the hotel there's a gas station and a convenience store. Picked up a salad, some snacks, and water. The hotel is bare bones with dorm style baths and rooms with basically no conveniences. The lady at the front desk essentially said people come here to unplug. Guess we have no choice!

Tomorrow it's off to see more of the park's main sights.
